Meet Connor

Coming from the coal region of the country, I have seen the impacts of industry leaving a community, and its residents being cast aside. I grew up with my mother and sister hopping from home to home just getting by, for a time I had lived in an apartment with my family and I remember the maintenance man helping my mother fix the appliances and take care of our home. I looked up to him and his willingness to stay late and make sure we were taken care of,   after my time serving here with AmeriCorps NCCC I got to see what Sabin does to help families just like mine. I hope to give back to the families living with Sabin in the same way I did at home.

About Community

Sabin’s Livability Initiative is an ongoing and organization-wide project to intentionally improve the livability of the culturally diverse neighborhoods that we serve in North East Portland. Livability is the sum of factors that add up to a community’s quality of life. Livability is the presence of color, art, and diversity, but it’s also unusable sidewalks, skyrocketing rent prices, and lack of green space.
